Description
I bought this car in Aug 1971 while I was in college. It turns out it was a
former race car and was thoroughly thrashed. I rebuilt the engine in
1972-73 (Solexes, Racer Brown cam, header, everything balanced, etc) and
then went through the rear end (4.11 limited-slip), brakes, trans (twice)
and suspension (full comp) over the next few years. I autocrossed it in
1978 and 1979 (8 firsts, 4 seconds, 1 third, 1 fourth). All during this time it
was my daily driver.
At the end of 1980 I started a little "over the winter
clean up the rust and dents" project which finished in the summer of 1983
after taking the body down to bare metal and doing new carpets, wiring
harnesses, weatherstrip, fuel and brake lines, etc. Now it only comes out
on nice days and doesn't have to put up with the rigors of traffic any more.
