Rock Vest, from North Carolina, was once chief engineer for National Champion and BSR driver Jim 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald - Fitzy treated him like a son, and it was not long before Rock was racing his own roadster, an immaculately prepared Datsun 2000 in a distinctive black and gold livery. Rock has campaigned this car for over 10 years, qualifying for some memorable runoffs at Road Atlanta. He has always run #38 in memory of Fitzy's Bob Sharp Racing number. Rock's hard driving style would make Fitzy proud, and the 1990 runoffs (see later) tipify his bump and grind will to win.
