Th Rock Vest Pages B Y R O B B E D D I N G T O N |
Rock Vest, from North Carolina, was once chief engineer for National Champion and BSR driver Jim 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald - Fitzy treated him like a son, and it was not long before Rock was racing his own roadster, an immaculately prepared Datsun 2000 in a distinctive black and gold livery. Rock has campaigned this car for over 10 years, qualifying for some memorable runoffs at Road Atlanta. He has always run #38 in memory of Fitzy's Bob Sharp Racing number. Rock's hard driving style would make Fitzy proud, and the 1990 runoffs (see later) tipify his bump and grind will to win. The Gallery Pages include some amazing images of the 1990 and 1991 runoffs, together with images from the Nissan Motorsport Catalogs.
My thanks again go to Alan Poindexter (see the Fitzy pages) for allowing me to reproduce his photographs on the Register's website.
