Sadly not for sale today ...
Please forgive the quality of this image but this ad was copied from the 14 November 1970 issue of Competition Press and Autoweek.
This advert created some real interest when it was published, and although $5,500 sounds a large sum in 1970, having seen that the ex-Jack Scoville race car was recently up for sale at $67,500, the price now looks cheap, even allowing for runaway inflation!
Pete Brock's claim that these cars were "unbeatable 'D' cars" was no exaggeration. He sold John Morton's car to Bob McQueen after the 1970 runoffs. With little development work, Bob went on to win two national championships in 1971 and 1972. John McComb's car went to Gene Felton, who also enjoyed an excellent 1971 season, qualifying the 2000 for the American Road Race of Champions. Gene qualified first, but span off when dicing for first place with McQueen in the other ex-BRE 2000.
